BTW, I don't think there is anything we can do about the climate. Climate will do what climate wants. This has always been the case and will be the case forever. That said, it's great that people care about our planet.
Before people start kicking me. I believe climate exists and climate changes. I hope that helps. As for the climate change science, it's just that - science.
I'm not judging you for believing we can't do anything about the climate, but I am judging you for glossing over the science establishing human activity as a massive acceleration factor in the climate change we're experiencing.
I believe we could have done something because of this human activity factor, but that the current dominant human society based on maximizing local short-term returns can't tackle a long-term global challenge like climate change.
Thank you for judging me. I honestly don't mind. I feel the climate science just says what money wants it to say. Science is not longer science when scientists are too afraid to dear disagree with mainstream science.
Anyway enough said. I love science - engineering more.
All what you just said about science is deeply misled but I don't believe you are open to change your mind about the subject so I won't insist. Though I will say that engineering may be even more susceptible to money than you think science is.
Your use of "mainstream science" suggests you might be a little too much open minded. Science is of course susceptible to money, but when a theory becomes "mainstream" like with the human activity factor in climate change, this means that money doesn't play any role in its establishment anymore.
Sure, special interests can and will order individual misleading studies to support their agenda, but the scientific method makes individual studies meaningless in the long run. This is true for climate science, where several initial studies have been ordered by oil companies who conveniently didn't publish them because they could endanger their profits, but enough independent studies have since been published from all over the world not to leave any doubt about the human activity factor of climate change, especially fossil fuel usage.
