There are a bunch of accounts on mastodon.social that are sending spammy Blockchain DMs to people around the fediverse, including on my home instance at #CoSocialCa.

We don't impose a captcha on remote DMs. It would be interesting to design a mechanism for that, though.

But now that you mention, would there be a mechanism to hook into incoming and trigger a permban on accounts?

@grin just a bayesian filter would catch these ones pretty easily.
