Is it possoble to configure Friendica that way that in the timelinines only appear First-posts never comments on first-posts?
Sometimes a timeline is cluttered with comments from one first-post with a subject i'm not interested in.
What is " First-posts never comments on first-posts"?
@Michel
Yes, that was also one of my first thoughts when I set up my first picture channels.
@Michel I'm not sure what you mean, but the setting "Only conversations my follows started" under "Settings->Social Media->General->Scope" may do what you want, or else selecting "Latest posts" instead of "Latest activity" as your timeline.
@Michel It would be nice to have comments collapsed unless you want to read them. Is that what you mean?
@Shelenn Ayres
Not sure If collapsed is correct. In my opinion in the Timelines never should appear comments. They only should appear if I open a post.
@Michel There is an admin setting under Site->Performance to limit the number of comments shown under a post in a timeline (and another setting to limit the comments when you open a post). Unfortunately, when filling in "0" it just activates the default of "100" (or "1000" in case of the other setting for opening a single post). So I guess it is not possible in Friendica... 🙁
@Michel For me, on nerdica.net I see all comments on every posts and am forced into scrolling. Not sure if this is an admin setting or a user preference setting.

@Shelenn Ayres
In my opinion:
- on /network should be a continous stream of posts. A comment could push a post above the timeline.

  • on /comunity also a continous stream of post would be nice but here comments could appear if I reacted in some kind. To avoid cluttering. Only the newest commen should appear.
@Michel Why not simply have all comments collapsed except for last few on either timeline? That way the functionality above is preserved yet massive scrolling on popular posts of interest does not happen. If I choose to review all comments on a post, there should be that option. Better yet, make it an option for usability. It is really annoying to see the same popular thread over and over having to scroll old comments to find new ones.
@MsDropbear42 [venera] 🐨♀🌈🐧🦘 @Shelenn Ayres @Michel There are some addons, that collapses comments by default and you can click on it to open it again. There are 2 slightly (?) different: "Show more" and "Show more Dynamic". I don't have any enabled and I have 5 comments - Show more here for this thread. I cannot find any setting for this. Maybe it is part of my used theme #Frio ?
