The Elno death spiral got me thinking about a #Twitter project from 2010, when I decided that @robcottingham and I should win "best couple" in the Shorty (Twitter) Awards as a write-in category.

I built an entire website to aggregate our mutual tweets via #RSS, back when Twitter still had real RSS support. (The slow death of Twitter RSS was the beginning of the end.)

But my #blog post about it is still live! https://www.alexandrasamuel.com/relationships/we-tweet-6-ways-twitter-can-strengthen-your-love

And my campaign worked! https://web.archive.org/web/20100207104752/http://shortyawards.com/category/bestcouple
Screenshot from "We Tweet: @awsamuel and @robcottingham in conversation", with "Recent updates" feed showing (pretty boring) tweets exchanged between @awsamuel and @robcottingham. Photo of the couple is at top of page. Right sidebar asks people to vote for us as write-ins on the Shorty awards.
that's adorable! Also, hi Rob!
Me: (slaps roof of protocol) this bad boy can fit so much Activities in it
@evan This has me remembering how much fun I used to have with social media and social tech before it became all about brand-building and self-promotion. I'm starting to image what crazy stuff might be possible in Fediverse-land, especially since there is so much that reminds me of that good, good, RSS-y goodness.
