Are you a developer? Do you want to help one of the most flexible, long-established and interesting Fediverse projects?

Friendica (https://friendi.ca) needs developers to help on the frontend, between the server-side PHP modules and views and the client-side HTML/CSS/Javascript aspect.

(It would also be nice if they ran their own Friendica node to help with testing.)

I've looked at it in the past. I thought it'd be cool to fork it, or maybe just style it differently, as a social network for enemys. And call it Enema.
I had a lotta fun ideas for it. Cuz there's a significant amount of people who use social media solely to complain about things they see in media or politics - maybe this is just my experience, or specific to the US - but I think not

It would just be a sounding board for those folks to talk about stuff they hate.

But in my thought experiment, it ended up becoming a kind of "freeze peach" instance for radicalizing youth to terrorism.

So it's probably a no-go.
@frigginGlorious ✅ Yeah, there is definitely enough of these around.
i'm curious. Can't make promises, but i'll have a look. i'm a back end dev, 20 years of PHP and to a lesser degree JavaScript. Where do i start?
@Joe T Thank you for your interest! The main starting point is the Friendica issue tracker currently hosted on GitHub: https://github.com/friendica/friendica/issues

We don’t have a formal onboarding process, so the best way of learning is by doing. Pick any issue that seems doable for you without prior knowledge, either Bug or New Feature, and have at it.

I suggest setting up a development Friendica node to get a feel for it. Since many issues revolve around federation with other servers, a local install on your own computer is discouraged. Ideally, it would be publicly accessible from a domain or subdomain you own.

Don’t hesitate to ask any questions, and if at any point you see something that you can improve, by all means go for it.
I don't have a lot of experience with php, but have a lot in the realm of js, node, vue, and general css/html; If there's anything I may be able to help with in my downtime, let me know!
@AlienKnight Yes, we’ve been having this persistent issue since I introduced the “Share via…” feature: https://github.com/friendica/friendica/issues/13054

Help would be greatly appreciated! It just is jQuery but it shouldn’t be too hard for a script wiz!
