Hey, from now on, I'll be totally inactive on Twitter.
Goodbye Blue Bird.

Blog-post: https://www.davidrevoy.com/article964/goodbye-blue-bird
A digital painting of a cute blue bird with a hat made of straw, he sleeps under a blanket with symbol on it sewed of 'reply', 'fav' and 'reshare'. He left his bagage on the side, the clock is broken. It's a preparation to a long sleep. A floating scroll has written on it "The End".

that's amazing. Also lovely piece πŸ˜€
I would like to celebrate, but it's more like a tragedy. But it's no use mourning. Time to move on.
@yuki2501 Thank you Cyber Yuki for your message full of empathy. You describe with accuracy my mixed extreme feelings very well with your reply. I'll cope with the loss of a place that was important to me, and I'll try to also celebrate.
Yeah I was thinking that in terms of cartoons, twitter would be more than a mascot, a place that was ravaged by a Tornado and now become a goblins' den, and Pepper & Carrot having to pack their things and leave.
You've got the right attitude about all of this.❀️ Keep up the great work.
Uhh the [mattbrown dot dev] link is broken.
@yuki2501 Oh, I can access it here. What I did wrong? If you have an idea for a fix, I can edit. Thanks!
I think it's not on your side, but the site you linked simply died. Poof. πŸ’¨ Gone.

I'd suggest finding another blog post recommending Mastodon and linking to it. Otherwise, why not making your own blog post about Mastodon? That would be interesting! :blobpopcorn:

@yuki2501 Ha, I confirm, the site is gone. The page was probably still on the cache of my browser. I discovered the link here yesterday: https://framapiaf.org/@sheepnik@toot.wales/110187851438841944 ;

making my own guide is a good idea, but it's work (but a good idea). I'll redirect somewhere else now. Thanks!

I think this may be the best explanation of how Mastodon works that I've seen in my 5 months of being here.
https://mattbrown.dev/mastodon/

@clov Weird right now. Mixed very strong feelings. The mood to celebrate will eventually come.
That's a very good write up. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
@clov πŸ’œ πŸ’œ πŸ’œ Thanks, that's exactly the type of remedy I need.

@gee

@davidrevoy

@gee
I did the same sone time ago. No regrets, I donβ€˜t miss it one second.

BTW, I only found you and your fantastic comics here on mastodon.
Great news ! Bravo David !
Adieu l'oiseau, bonjour le mammouth.
Great post, as always David. As a young artist I saw how Twitter has become from 'great tool to expose your art' to 'NFT, ChatGPT, AIArt', just like you mentioned.
I hope we can create a better community in Mastodon and connect with people the way it use to be in the blue bird
Wow. I'm so happy about this. I can't help but see it as a triumph of the Fediverse. Thanks for this @davidrevoy, and congratulations!
Well written. As someone with followers in the lower 3-digits I can't really understand how hard this must be.
DΓ©cision forte. Bon courage Γ  toi dans cette nouvelle page ! πŸ˜€
Thank you for making that hard decision!
Rest in peace... little blue bird, who was born in confidence and hopes.

And live on differently.
I can only imagine how tough this choice was. I had 80-something Twitter followers and relied on it for 0% of my income, and it still took me until December to abandon the platform.

I hope the post-bird era continues to bring you satisfaction and prosperity.
Glad you are escaping that hateful bird.
This is the cutest farewell ever
Did you make sure to actually delete the account? Otherwise I suspect the bird could lure you back in, as it had previously for other accounts.

It takes a lot of strength to leave a vast platform like the birdsite, especially for artists. Though, thankfully, it's getting easier all the time.

Always glad to have you here. :blobcatcoffee: Wishing you all the best!
A sound strategy - I've adopted that as well.
why not just leave the bird altogether?
I wish more people and projects would have the courage (and means!) to do as you did. The only reason I still feel like I need to check Twitter is to keep up with the folks that haven't switched yet.

It's not easy to leave a huge audience built over many years behind, especially for independent creators.

I've been a longtime fan of yours and actions like this are part of why. 😊
What a proud move. I feel with you, but have to admit: Sounds great to anybody that never was over on twitter.
Twitter m'a changΓ© la vie - j'y ai rencontrΓ© des gens incroyables, y incluant mon mari. C'est triste d'avoir Γ  partir.
"I'm tired and exhausted of Twitter." I've left my Twitter account behind for the same reasons. Wishing you good fortune here on Mastodon!
It is sad how an ill tempered monarch annihilated a popular social destination, even if it was kind of a corporate controlled mall.
Funny, I did the same today. At least the orgs that refuse to take a stand can't call me a hypocrite anymore.
A wise decision. I guess it was difficult, because Twitter remains very ingrained in our culture.

But there is a time to act according to our values & our convictions, as you perfectly said.

You offer us a pleasant reading (big bonus), thank you ❀️ πŸ§™β€β™€οΈ
I stopped using Twitter very shortly after Elon Musk took over, but I kept both of my accounts so that no one can impersonate me or my company.
Twitter is a somber, but shining example of what Billionaires (and wealthy people in general) do to society. Sadly, most won't learn this lesson.
Welcome, and thanks for the clear, clean β€œI voted with my feet” move …
nice painting of the blue bird to illustrate the blog πŸ‘πŸ» bit of a sad story but very recognizable 😌
Same. I have a zombie account on there now. And I gradually deleted who I was following - I’ve posted before how I check up every so often and find that there are extra people that I’m following - just fandoms that Twitter has decided to add.
It’s so much nicer here.
Great piece! So pretty and soothing
@Rakun Thanks! And very good taste for the Grandia avatar. It's one of my favorite Manga stylizations. 😍
what a cute graphic!
Congratulations! At some point, you (especially) might want to look at Tweetback https://github.com/tweetback/tweetback - it creates a nice little archive of your history that, when they update their registry, the individual archives cross-link to each other.
You're here though, right? On Mastodon?
@wasootch Yes, Masto has become my primary communication tool.
@PadreWil It's detailed in the blog-post.
took the same decision yesterday. Not easy, but had to be done.
It's a big step, turning your back on a social media giant. Especially when it's part of how you promote the work you make a living from.

I'm trying to figure out this lovely image... because "cute blue bird taking a nap" is not how I see twitter right now. Maybe it's the spirit of what Twitter used to be, long ago, now homeless and wandering.
I think thats a good reason to make a cool illustration!
After your post in Twitter I decided to create a profile on Mastodon.
Also, I like the visual part of Mastodon, there are many many cute illustrations with mammoths (or mastodons πŸ€”)
@Pixel_Lime Hey, welcome. πŸ™‚

You have a cool portfolio on https://blenderartists.org/u/pixel_lime/activity/portfolio , I'll follow your stylised 3D artworks!

I'm sure you'll find a lot of good account with browsing the #b3d and #mastoart and more. Have a good time here.
@expertmanofficial Hey,

1. I'm a 2D artist mainly, using Krita on GNU/Linux and only open-source since 2009. I also use Blender, and I worked at the Blender Foundation on movies and producing training material. On my webcomic, I use mainly Krita, and Inkscape for the speech bubbles and texts, and I spice sometimes my complex backgrounds with Blender.

2. No idea about Nostr; I went and read its page on Wikipedia. First time I read about it.
Good to hear. It can't be an easy choice to make as an artist as you probably want to reach as many people as possible with your artwork, but with the current state of Twitter, it makes sense to leave.
