!Friendica Support Is something like this possible within friendica without using relay server?

Want to know what is really cool about the @icecubesapp?

You can add local timelines from other instances and this helps create a really rich content experience!

So you have your:

Home Feed (your follows + hashtags)
Local Instance feed
Local feeds from other instances
Federated feed (firehouse)

👏🏻

Adding local feeds from other instances is a great way to find people to follow.

This seems to be an app on iOS(?). On Android this is working in #FediLab for long already.
So: This is something a client can/should do, not a server software (like Friendica) imho.
I know mobile clients are capable of this, but honestly - these works well for comments, not so much for everything else.

If any 3rd party software is capable of this, why could not web frontend of Friendica (maybe using some addon)?

Guess that the answer to "is it possible within friendica" is not 😀
I don't know any instance software doing this, only clients. 🙂
It is not that it is not possible (via an addon in example) it is only that instance softwares are meant to manage.. well.. their instance. 😀
And when using the browser, it is very easy to simply load any public timeline into another tab, isn't it? 🙂
@Grischa as soon as we talk about loading other timelines, then you are right. But when you consider interacting with them, you get annoying log-in hassle with each opened timeline you want to interact with 😀
You have a valid point there.. 😀
So it sips off some other server’s published(ish) timeline API? I didn’t think Mastodom let you do that without being signed in.
@hankg
Depends. Public timelines could be accessed without authentication.

#Fedilab supports this for example.
I knew it could be (optionally) with the rendered page. I didn’t realize the API was doing it too. I may have to add this to my Relatica Friendica client.
Mastodom won't let you do that. Mastosub will. 😉
