I don’t believe he sees his gambits as a game - he’s too personally invested in them, and does not have a playful personality (despite how he often claims to be “joking”). I think he learned, early on, that he could break the rules and get away with it, and often profit from that rule-breaking. Remember how he bragged that he could shoot someone and get away with it? He sees rulebreaking behavior as his personal entitlement.

Much like you, I see a fascinating "case" - and we probably should make an effort to understand it, seeing as how important he has become.
