#VideoGames logic from the latest #Dota2 change log:

PROXIMITY [LAND]MINES
- All flying hero units can now trigger the mines

πŸ€”

Eh, even flying units aren't that far off the ground! And given the proximity radius, it doesn't look that far-fetched πŸ˜›

@Richard Degenne Balance-wise, it made total sense to close this exception as height is only relevant for vision and terrain traversal. Realism-wise…

This isn’t the fire time Valve has been toying with realistic mechanics before making them more generic.

Game is complex enough, it doesn’t need an additional complexity layer.

Lots of current anti-tank land mines trigger off of metal detectors, not pressure sensors. In a world of flying heroes, I imagine something could be worked out.
@Jonathan Beverley These mines have a detection radius materialized by a visual sphere around them. Due to the over-the-top view, I don't believe even flying units are above that sphere. However, the real collision box for the mine's detection is more like a cylinder since there's no meaningful height considerations in Dota 2 except high ground/low ground.
