Congrats on Enter the Gungeon to make destroyable decor meaningless all game long, until the final boss where destroying his dead skull (even only once) is critical to progress through the little story there is because of the rogue-like aspect. 😡 #videogames
That seems like... bad design :/
@Travis Skaalgard I was furious. I've beaten the end boss only once in 100 hours played during a super-lucky run, and I realized after it was too late that I'd missed a critical part of the game for which no specific hint is provided. I'm not one of those people who like endless trial and error so I have the game wiki constantly open in the background, but I failed to check for this particular piece in time.
While trying to reach the end boss again I unlocked a run-altering mode as a side quest and it proved way easier to reach the end boss and kill him again with it, I've now closed the loose end and can resume playing without fuming.
I'm glad you found a way around it but that still sounds infuriating!
@Travis Skaalgard Thanks, yeah, the game is good otherwise, I still have a couple of gripes but they are related either to my skill or lack thereof, or the rogue-like genre itself that sits awkwardly with me. The art is my jam and the puns and references to other works abound, which helped swallow the pill for almost 120 hours, so I still would recommend it.
