Considering how these states are the only ones that actually pay taxes, vs states like Texas and Florida that take for more than they contribute, they should find a way to divert federal tax money. A pipe dream I know but not enough is said about how blue states carry the country while red states, screaming about socialism, are basically on welfare.

I see what you are saying but it isn’t completely accurate. Blue states have a higher concentration of high-paying jobs which explains the discrepancy in collected federal taxes. But the state of New York depends on goods from other states with lower populations and lower-paying jobs. Blue states secessioning from the United States makes as little sense as southern states secessioning.

In the end Blue states are thriving thanks to the whole federation, not in spite of it, although the latter is an easy talking point to make.
