It definitely is a matter of taste. I've never enjoyed Queen, none of their bangers nor their less known tracks. I've actually tried to listen to it at some point given the enthusiasm it was giving some of my friends, but nothing stuck.
So you're lucky for Queen, but I certainly am not. Queen is doubly annoying to me: on one side, the music featuring abrupt cuts mid-song for something completely different, over-the-top choirs and frankly disappointing riffs, and on the other side their fame that I absolutely can't relate to and makes me feel like a martian.
Isn't that true for any popular bands? π I probably rather kill myself with a wet sponge than listen to Depeche Mode, others seem to love them. People like a hume amount of bands I can't even bear to listen. And I like a lot where people consider suicide as a viable alternative. I guess that's normal. π Disclaimer: I like #queen a lot. What about #PinkFloyd?
The only artist in this list I've recently voluntarily listened to is Metallica (#35) because they recorded another album with a symphonic orchestra and I was curious. I listened to some others at some point mostly when I was a teenager and I didn't have Spotify's recommendations.
Listening now to any other on this list for me ranges from polite entertainment to solid boredom.
Like I said, I know my taste are a tad unconventional because I'm uninterested in most sung song. I can't understand the lyrics most of the time, and even when I do they usually don't move me, but having vocals often means the instrumental part doesn't have to be as elaborate, which decreases my enjoyment of such songs overall.
I find myself more attracted to instrumental songs for the greater variety of musical motifs by necessity.
I unfortunately do not. I've always had slightly unconventional #music tastes without veering into true music nerdiness, which has very early on made me painfully aware that there aren't any universally awesomest band.

•Do you have a band that you think is the awesomest thing?

•I internally rate artists on how much of their production I like, and on that scale, Skydyed seems to rate the highest that I can think of, but they are nowhere near as famous as Queen. Closely behind, Noah B who makes great background music to work with. Then, in no particular order, Nigel Stanford, Volkor X, Emancipator, nervous_testpilot, Pretty Lights, Arcade High, The Midnight and Essenger.
This is but a snapshot at this point in time, I used to listen to a mostly different set of artists and bands 5, 10 or 15 years ago.
