@Xantulon Maybe I'm overthinking it, but I'm going to lie, #TwitterInvasion stings a little. I can appreciate that we're new here, but I really hope we're not seen as 'invaders'. For me, #TwitterRefugee is pithy, but trivialises the millions of actual refugees who are living through something much worse than Mr Musk. Maybe we can go for something more neutral, like #TwitterInflux? #Twinflux?
@Richard@Xantulon haha twinflux is cute. I agree with refugees being very bad form. Invasion sounds kinda tongue in cheek for me, and I definitely feel like it applies to accounts who try to 1 for 1 drag their toxic Twitter mindset over as well, but idk what else suits. I'll think about it 😜
@Xantulon re: toxic Twitter mindset: I'm pleasantly surprised by how different Mastodon is. I've known about it for years, but didn't feel the need to switch because I had assumed it was just basically the open-source equivalent of Twitter. But now I see that it's culturally different. There's a humility and kindness here that is harder to find on Twitter. I really hope that the we newer folks allow Mastodon to change us, rather that colonise it.
@Richard it looks the same and mostly functions the same, but the software choices are different, based on different preferences. Mastodon isn't about monetization, it's about meaningful engagement for the people engaging with each other, instead of ad manipulated engagement
