I've been on diaspora for years now, and it's the only one I've stuck with even when my "pod" discontinued and I had to "start over" on another. Here's why I stick with diaspora:
It has by far the simplest and most intuitive user interface of any of the federated / distributed platforms,
It's not loaded down and cluttered with features most users never use anyway
You build your experience on Diaspora. It doesn't suggest "people you may know" or "stuff you might like."
It takes time to make diaspora what you wish it to be for you, since you build your own experience by following #hashtags at first, perhaps, then following people who interest you. I use the #Aspects feature to create "groups" here just like I had on Fakebook - only better.

•I too have dumped Fakebook, Mastodon, and X.
