I was doing some work outside and these fellows did NOT like me hammering close to their walls.

I was careful to let them calm down between each nail but it was interesting to see the four "guardians" coming out and line up to protect the entrance to the nest.

Also I'm not sure who they are.
I'd say German Yellowjackets but they don't have quite the same patterns?

If anyone can identify them so that I know if they're invasive and act accordingly.
