Hello #diaspora,

I tried to post my #introduction before, but I’m not sure if I made it visible for everyone.
So after a while on Mastodon and Pixelfed, now here I am testing diaspora. I like movies/series, streetart and photography. I‘m interested in languages and art.

Versuche immer noch zu verstehen, wie das #fediverse funktioniert. Auf Mastodon fühle ich mich bereits recht heimisch. Nun war ich neugierig auf diaspora und habe mich einfach mal registriert.

Werde mal schauen, was hier so los ist. Ich mag Fotografie, Sprachen und schaue gerne Serien. Aktuell bin ich ganz begeistert von Severance und kann die Serie nur empfehlen.

Welcome! I have been on two other "Fediverse" macroblogging platforms (Friendica and Hubzilla) and like diaspora best of all! Because:

  • It's user interface is ultra-super-mega simple. No steep learning curve.
  • I build my own "groups," or "circles," or "associations," whatever you wish to call them.
  • It's not loaded down with a zillion and twelve features that most people wouldn't use anyway.
  • There are lots of very helpful tutorials to learn about diaspora quickly.

Diaspora takes time to become what you want it to be, because you're building your own "social media" experience here. Diaspora will not suggest "people you may know" or "stuff you might like." If you spend the time building what you want, you can enjoy it for years. Enjoy the ride!

und immer schön häschtäggen! so wie: #sprachen #photo und #mywork und... kann nie zuwenig sein, find' ich.
so den filmjunkiechat gibt's nicht ;) hab' grad primetarget angecheckt. bin angefixt, auch wenn es mehr mathemystery sein könnte, aber jut, vielleicht entwickelt es sich noch - ich glaub es gibt irgendwo #filmtipp

@liame Yes, on diaspora* there's no threaded comments (and "Like" is not available on all diaspora* instances, e.g. not on diasp.eu, where my diaspora* account is. This comment is made from Friendica, though. 😅)

I agree with @ℝ𝕠𝕓𝕚𝕟 about the less steep learning curve
- Friendica has "a bazillion" settings, for better or for worse. 😬🙈

I'm not completely leaving diaspora*, and I've got myself a Mastodon account as well. They all have their advantages, and nothing says I can't have options. 😅)

It's threaded on Friendica, but it looks like I'm "arguing with myself" on diaspora*. 😬🙈
