Elon Musk, world's richest man, is offering $47 to every person who signs this petition - The Economic Times https://m.economictimes.com/news/international/world-news/elon-musk-worlds-richest-man-is-offering-47-to-every-person-who-signs-this-petition/articleshow/114006020.cms

That's why a #democracy can't afford #billionaires. Even millionaires are problematic, if they have too many of those millions. So he wants a million people to sign his petition. Each gets USD 47. (Why not 50? So cheap?) While you and I will never have 47 millions, for him it's small change. When he coughs, his companies lose way more than 47m.

But I think it's the first time someone is that openly buying votes. The best democracy money can buy...

Is it even legal to buy these votes?

I would call that bribery.

Just my unbiased opinion.

Could this possibly be challenged in court?

I don't think he cares and even if a court finds that this is illegal activity, by the time they come to this conclusion the damage is done. What can happen to him? A fine of 1m? Oh, that would scare him...
Ah, that's where it's coming from! What a "symbolism"...
