I don't know if it is a good idea or not, but I just subscribed to the #Github Sponsor program. I was curious both to see how it works, and if people would actually donate.
Probably not the best timing while everyone is asking for money before the end of the year, but as I have literally no expectation, I guess I can't be disappointed haha

•It's impossible to tell by following links from the diaspora-project homepage, who is still running / developing /guiding / advising the diaspora project anymore. The last post on Discourse is months old, most threads are years old. Following some of the major players on the discourse site, I find that they have either stopped working on the project or can't be reached at all.
Of all the decentralized platforms there are to choose from now, diaspora remains my absolute favorite because of it's wonderful simple user interface and easy learning curve. The other macroblogging platforms are so complicated and busy with features most people wouldn't even think to use that I just get lost trying to figure anything out.
I would hate to think that this project is no longer being developed, or that it has simply been abandoned. The statistics tell a much different story: With only 36 instances, diaspora still enjoys thousands more users than it's closest comperable platform, Friendica.
Is d* still alive and well? Has anyone made it easie

Is d* still alive and well? Has anyone made it easier to install and run a pod or is it still so deeply technical that only a super-geek with the technical expertise of a Starfleet engineer can run a pod?

•Regarding the project, the story is different, and there was no big changes to the code for months unfortunately.
