@Michael πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ has implemented a nice new extension of following tags into Friendica. In the development branch (aimed to be released as 2026.08) it is now possible to automatically follow the tags from tags.pub by @Evan Prodromou πŸ₯³

Admins of Friendica nodes can activate this in the settings of their nodes, down below in the Relay section. All the tags that are selected there plus user tags if that option is enabled, will then be automatically followed at tags.pub as relays (and unfollowed it one removes a tag from the list).

Lets see if my raspi can handle that 🫣

#Friendica #fediverse /cc @Friendica Admins

At least in my tests there hadn't been that much posts in a time frame, not even a post in a minute.

BTW: There is also one more thing in that PR: To give the users the choice if their posts should be distributed to relay servers or not, there is now a user option to deactivate it. The default value is to allow the distribution via relay servers.

It's still growing. Thanks so much for this, I'm very excited!

@Tobias
In this case, does "user tags" refer to the hashtags in "Saved Searches"?

/cc @Evan Prodromou

Yes, I think at least if the configuration is done so. Not sure if saved searches are followed automatically. @Michael πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ should know

Friendica Admins reshared this.

Both the hashtags from user defined channels and the saved searches are taken into account.
