Anyone want to takeover nitter.eu to run a #nitter instance, #Hetzner does not permit running nitter, so I will terminate the domain in 15 days.
@utzer ~Friendica~ I know this isn’t what you asked about but I do think it’s time for Nitter to retire. It was always a crutch that I don’t believe the Fediverse needs anymore.
is it written in the terms of hetzner that they don't permit nitter? Didn't found anything yet.
@nuron :Anoxinon: no, they just are very problematic, can you come here and read my other replies, I think that explains it better?

There is some you won't receive, as these are to Diaspora users.

ahh okay. Yes there was one subthread missing here.

I see the problem. So probably the child abuse stuff collides with the terms I guess.
Silly situation :/
@nuron :Anoxinon: yes, of course the child abuse stuff collides with that, but there they only asked me to take the shit down. After that they informed me that generally a service like nitter is against their TOS. I will look for the email and share that info here.
mmm don't understand why they won't allow nitter. Its just taking public data and removes trackers and other unwanted stuff.

Please tag me if you shared the detailed information
@nuron :Anoxinon: Available publicly doesn't mean you can freely reproduce it. The same way you can't freely use images that artists post publicly on Internet.
@Hypolite Petovan@nuron :Anoxinon: yes and that is the thing, it might not be reproducing, it is an unaltered version, at least the content and it is available in its entirety. But I didn't want to discuss with them.
@utzer ~Friendica~ Reproducing doesn't imply anything about altering it. Reproducing means you're publishing it yourself apart from the original publisher, whether it's the author themselves or a publishing company.
Nitter (along with other similar frontends) believes (of course not tried in court) that their use is legal under various provisions for proxies as well as ToS's. See also https://github.com/zedeus/nitter/issues/482 and https://github.com/zedeus/nitter/wiki/DMCA-templates . That does not prevent people from sending DMCA takedowns regardless, and Hetzner will kick you off if there are too many DMCA takedowns (as long as they look valid?) against you (even if your use is legal).
@Austin Huang ❤ Huh, I thought Twitter themselves would go after Nitter instances, as they stand to lose revenue by not being able to monetize their content.
