top for Android?

Does anyone know a kind of real, actually functioning "top" or similar process monitor for #Android? My tablet recently started to lock up randomly for random durations, but CPU load seems to be involved and I'd like to find the culprit.

Would also like a full set of android security tools, like ntop, ptop, and everything else to monitor the apps and system I/O. Why is the phone getting warm, and other horror stories can be solved...
busybox includes top among 377 other commands

Ah, shit. Installation of busybox needs root privileges. :-\
Yeah, a fancy system, but doesn't allow much control...
I still own some old Smartphones with Android 4, which were very easy to 'root'. You can do literally everything with them, up to ruining the whole system.
But of course this is not wanted by Google, so of course they restricted user access more and more up to now.
