After three days of very moderate flu-like fever I went to almost normal except now my sense of smell is gone.

Achievement unlocked.

да всякое бывает. у меня и раньше при насморке иногда обоняние исчезало.
now that fever is gone, you have defeated the virus. your immune system works.

but some people have secondary effects after ~2 weeks and later. inflammatory aftereffects include a rash, respiratory distress in the 2nd and 3rd week, and the danger of thrombosis in the 4th week and for a while after that.

so, the good news is that the virus is gone, and you can no longer pass it to anyone else, you are immune, at least for a few months, and will not become re-infected.

the bad news is that you may have after-effects. I hope you do not.
I'm sorry to hear you were infected, but I'm glad to hear you didn't require hospitalization.

It seems like a short duration for moderate flu-like fever. When I had the flu many years ago, it laid me out flat on my back for an entire week. It's not an experience I ever want again.

It seems like there's a wider variation in how people react to COVID19. (Or maybe I'm not registering a variation in reaction to seasonal flu.)
@pianomad I tend to deal with flu-like illnesses slightly faster than the most people - fever phase usually passes in 2-3 days and then only very mild effects remain.

@Garry Knight - the taste went away by about one third. Basic taste senses are there (bitter, sweet, etc) but some of nuances are gone. So chili sauce is now plain bitter like some medicine. Same with strong tea and coffee.

Maybe it is a good time to make a break from coffee!

There are some advantages too. I have a neighbor who smokes and his smoke keeps getting in my windows when open. Usually annoys me a lot - but not right now :)
I'm also sorry to hear it, if it's coronavirus. The next step is for your food to taste like cardboard. And if you wake up one morning, thinking you're unable to handle simple things like checking your email, be assured: it doesn't last long and should wear off after a day or two.
Желаю скорейшего выздоровления и возвращения вкусовых и нюхательных нюансов жизни!
@Alexander
The smoke might not annoy you, but it’s having the same effect on your health. Anyway, I hope you recover soon.
@Garry Knight Yes, but I can't do anything about it - it is not forbidden to smoke in your own apartment with windows open :) I hope he drops the habit someday.
