a morning stroll through the gardens

We had thought that all the fall-blooming clematis vines had perished, but it had healthy roots and sent up new shoots.

Beautiful garden. We’re a bit worried about the damage of the smoke here, but we’re getting a break this morning.
We had an AQI of about 50 at sunrise but it is about 150 now. Smoke and rain arrived together at noon today. Temperature is only 68, but I think the dew point is 67. Rain stopped a little while ago.
We had a tiny spoot of rain before the sun came out. Smoke is predicted to come back this evening…but not as bad. In the meantime, I enjoyed being outside for the first time this week.
Our AQI is 65 right now and temp 92. Somehow, the heat feels better without smoke.
The days of weird yellow light were disturbing.
Ewww. That is disturbing.
It’s coming back right now but not brown yet. The wind died down.
Mordor…

I've seen the future, and it is brown.

;-(

Actually, it's black as ash.
Black ash is from incomplete combustion. With sufficient oxygen and heat. wood ashes become white.
Most wildfires seem to leave a dark shadow on the landscape.
Not everything burns to ash.
Charcoal is such a dirty subject.
Soot suits some suitors. Charcoal suits mostly, sometimes herringbone.
