Thanks to the role of money in American politics, which goes all the way back to the "founding fathers", the American electorate always has exactly two choices on the ballot; any third party candidate is de facto not a candidate, but instead a spoiler for whichever actual candidate they're closest to in the electorate's "minds". This system is terrible for 99.99% of the electorate, but the 0.01% controls 90+% of the money/power, so the system remains in place.
Harris was the only realistic hope for any sane voter. I would rather have had Sanders as an option in 2016; same in 2020 and 2024. But the reasons why he was my preferred choice were also the reasons why the 0.01% would never allow him to be a choice: He would have made life better for the 99.99%, cutting into the profits of the 0.01%.
"And well done Democrat voters for putting your hope in Harris, who promised to continue Biden’s policies."

I would love to have Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren in charge. I would also love to be able to fly, walk through walls, and heal the sick with the touch of my hand.
But unfortunately, life rarely hands us the choices we would most like to have. Often, we have to choose the lesser of two unpleasant choices.
This is a subtlety few Americans are smart enough to grasp, so being offended by Harris's blackness, Indian heritage, and worst of all, pair of X chromosomes, they voted for the Leopards Eating People's Faces candidate, hoping their faces would not get eaten (it helped that most of them don't know shit about history). Some of their faces are already being eaten. More will be eaten soon. Trump will convince most of them to blame Biden or Obama, and they'll vote for Trump again (assuming we're allowed to vote in 2028). With or without faces, they're still idiots.
In other words, please don't blame Democratic voters for this outcome because they voted for Harris rather than Jill Stein or some other third party candidate. In the political reality of the USA, Harris was the only sane choice. Would that more Americans were sane.
The Democrats told you that Fascism was coming & then handed power over on a plate with a series of suicidal policy decisions, alienating enough voters so that Trump won by the smallest of margins. Putting aside the Biden/Harris complicity in the ongoing Palestinian genocide, Harris/Waltz promised absolutely nothing to help ordinary folks, the 60% of Americans that live month to month. Trump lied of course, but at least he pretended that he was going to help ordinary folks. Democrat policies for the last 50 years, along with the Republicans, have lead us to this. After 2020 the Democrats stepped up funding for the police, who will now be used to try to suppress any protest. What happened last year in response to the campus protests against the Genocide, as well as years of brutal police action in democrat controlled Atlanta regarding the Stop Cop City actions were a dry run for police, cheered on by the Democratic Party. Bourgeois, Liberal American voters have never had any skin in the game regarding the authoritarian nature of their country, choosing policies that included... show more

Bourgeois, Liberal American voters have never had any skin in the game regarding the authoritarian nature of their country, choosing policies that included the war on drugs, a massive expansion of the American Gulag, attacks on foreign civilians & ultimately a genocide, carried out in plain sight. All this, to be among the winners, economically, of the last 50 years or neoliberal policy. To call those who abstained or voted Trump idiots is to ignore the sense of despair, rage & hopelessness that most ordinary folks feel, also with how exhausting it is to just try & survive modern capitalism.
