•Aha, now I realize this takes knowledge of American shopping malls, maybe even knowledge of east coast American shopping malls.
Claire's is a jewelry store chain that pierces a lot of teenager and pre-teen ears. Some people think Claire's does too much with all their fifteen-year-old staffers piercing thirteen-year-old customer ears. But it is a tiny bit funny to think of them telling some eighteen-year-old manager, "Yeah, you can do appendixes, too."
