Good point, @jrsy. They've been considering not debating ever since Harris became the presumptive nominee. This little performance may just push his campaign committee over the edge. On the other hand, it has been opined (see, e.g., the "Following up:" link above) that his bizarre, bullying, racist, and sexist performance was Trump's explicit strategy from the beginning because it'll appeal to his mentally ill cult following. Hopefully, it won't appeal to anyone else.
Yes but he knows he needs more than the cult in order to win the election. He frequently appeals directly to that cult base but only on a more limited, controlled stage. Anyone looking at this disaster would consider it harmful to his voting support percentage.
I think it was a huge blunder.
And that analysis makes me feel good way down deep so I'm sticking to it.
I like the strategy of loudly calling him chickenshit. His ego might not let him back out regardless of how hard his campaign handlers try to stop him.
"I like the strategy of loudly calling him chickenshit." I agree with you, @jrsy. I think it's the perfect strategy, both because he will be unwilling to resist it and because if enough people say it he loses either way.
