bluesky doesn't have blocking yet even
@Moon @SprateI haven’t even figured out how to access Bluesky without turning on my iPhone, which I normally keep turned off in a drawer.
@Moon @SprateThey’re ngmi. Corporations take so much longer to get anything done than independent devs. It’s been three and a half years since they started the company btw.
@eris @Moon @SprateKeffals makes it a little more interesting, but I still think it would be a better use of my time to write a Nostr relay in Chef than bridge Bluesky at this time.
@Moon @eris @SprateI have no idea if this even vaguely does anything.
Wait is keffals.gg a self hosted #bluesky node?
@realcaseyrollins @SprateNo, bluesky handles are similar to NIP-05 IDs. Your real ID under the hood is a DID, but you can associate a handle from any domain by adding a TXT DNS record pointing to your DID, and then updating your bluesky profile with the handle.
@ShariVegasBased on this statement, I don’t think Bluesky is federating yet:
We’ve kept the Bluesky app invite-only and are finishing moderation before the last pieces of open federation because we wanted to prioritize user safety from the start.

@meowski @ShariVegasAt least their system is based on user-level labeling instead of server-level. Shared blocklists are a problem though, because too many people assume the people creating them aren’t insane.
@realcaseyrollins bluesky will burn in a month when users realize it has the problem gab does: you have no chance of being seen by anyone outside your circle. Those using "mastodon" have this issue already. They'll then go back to big social media.

@PhenomX6 @realcaseyrollinsThey might have the resources to do moderation better. I basically think if one party doesn’t want to interact with another party at all, it doesn’t matter what the other party thinks. It’s a problem when both parties want to interact but a middleman prevents them from doing so. We’ll see I guess.
I mean they already mentioned a tagging system which can be made by communities or third parties and automated content and user tagging. That shit just sounds like #fediblock on steroids
@kroner @PhenomX6 @realcaseyrollinsYes but the key is you can choose which blocklists to subscribe to. There will be a default list set. (Based on my understanding of that post)
“For moderation as well, there should be a basic default, and then many custom filters available on top.”
@kroner @realcaseyrollins which leads to the gab problem; the end result becomes an echo chamber where you can only get an audience if you confirm and then you'll be preaching to the choir.
@PhenomX6 @kroner @realcaseyrollinsGab is mostly an echo chamber because it’s centralized and many people refuse to use it. Remember it was defederated because “the Fediverse is all gay shit” or whatever. Bluesky at least has the opportunity to federate and bridge.

I’m lukewarm on it, just thinking it through.
