Hello !Friendica Support,

Is it possible as admin to disable the "dislike" feature instance wide?

#friendica
@Montag Yes, you will an option for this in your settings of an admin account.
I was wondering the same I cannot find it in the admin. Where more exactly is it?
@Montag Unfortunately no, it is a user-set feature at the moment, with a default on.
oh too bad. I don't like the "dislike" feature so I would like to have it disabled instance wide. Then I will write a feature request. 😉
@Montag Yes please, I will gladly push it, I still want to remove the dislike feature, even before we implement emoji reactions to posts.

Additional Features

There are several optional features in Friendica like the dislike button. In this section of the admin panel you can select a default setting for your node and eventually fix it, so users cannot change the setting anymore.
@tom s @Montag Unfortunately again this text is obsolete.
@Montag Hmh, didn't know and never tried, because i like the 'dislike'. Any other, maybe newer readme/Wiki for friendica some place?
@tom s @Montag The most up-to-date documentation is hosted on each node in the Help section. Any other place is subject to some degree of obsolescence.
@Montag The function is excellent. It is not only included in the AP specification, but is also needed for Lemmy. Why then should it be removed?

@Matthias ✔ Please refer to this 3-year old discussion about the then future of the Dislike feature: https://friendica.mrpetovan.com/display/735a2029-755e-41ef-b0f0-974890376709

HI !Friendica Support,

I've been recently reminded of the ambiguity of the dislike reaction feature. @Spencer added a dislike on a post of mine with a negative tone. Then he felt the need to explicit the meaning of the dislike in a comment.

I'd like to remove this feature for 3 reasons:

  1. No other protocol supports it.
  2. It's too ambiguous and negative with harassment potential.
  3. It would visually clear some space in the post link list for people not using it like me.

What do you think?

@Hypolite Petovan
Thank you very much for this advice. I already knew the content and also at that time there was no clear decision for or against deconstruction.
What is the solution for emoji reactions and will it be compatible with Lemmy and misskey?
Important: I am not concerned with the statement, but with the function.
@Matthias ✔ Emoji reactions should be compatible with Misskey, I'm not sure about Lemmy if they only support a subset (like just thumps up/down).
@Montag Here's the open feature request for emoji reactions which will resolve this debate once implemented: https://github.com/friendica/friendica/issues/12805
