That sinking feeling when you realize that you somehow inadvertently deleted all your (non-hidden) files from your file server and they're gone now.

Until you figure that there were no modifications to those files since the last #backup run a couple of hours ago.
And it's just a one-liner to have them all restored from said backup.
And the worst thing that just happened is a bit off additional wear on the main platters of the fileserver.

Whatever it is, always have a backup.

Restore has been tested and us fully operational - a good thing too, to know the backup - and restore - actually works.

People don't want backups.

People want restores.

Neither do I.
And what I got from not wanting a backup is a daily archive of what I have. And have had yesterday. And the day before. And the day before that. And the day before… you get the idea.

And, suffice to say, everything comes at a cost. And restores come at the cost of making backups. πŸ˜‰

@Felix Tiede I read you.

It's an old saying. There's truth to it though.

And backusp are necessary_but not sufficient_ for restores.

Indeed, a backup is worthless if it cannot be restored.
