"Maria and Peter are students and meet up for a late dinner. Peter asks Maria whether Tom is at the party that they intend to go to after dinner. Maria answers that Tom is at the party. After all, Tom had told her that he would be at the party. When they arrive at the party, it turns out that Tom had changed his plans, and is not at the party. Was Maria's answer true or false?"

@Denny Vrandečić Both Maria's answer and this poll are inaccurate. From there I'm not sure how accurate any conclusion you would draw from the results would be. And since you chose both of those, I am now judging you! 😏

@hypolite I learned a lot from this poll. I had a very strong supposition about what the answer would be, and I was completely wrong.

I believed the only possible answer is a simple "Maria's answer is false", and everyone who disagrees is either trolling or not understanding the question. I believed that even after reading the paper this question is from.

Now I see that my strong conviction is wrong, and I'm updating my understanding of what people understand with true and false.

@Denny Vrandečić I saw you ran the poll again today, did you change the wording at all? I’m on mobile so it’s hard to put both posts next to each other.
