I have a lot of the turquoise yarn left so I’m trying to make matching fingerless gloves. I found a pattern that I thought would match, but it doesn’t have the nice clear lines that I wanted. The hat gets those by having all the tall stitches go the same direction with slip stitches going back, but this glove pattern has the tall stitches both ways so the back of one row ends up blending into the line above. So now I’m trying to improvise and merge the one design to fit the gauge of the other.
Swatch with the original glove pattern on the bottom and new improvised pattern on top. Both have wavy lines creating alternating open and closed cells, but the bottom looks deeper and the top looks more like embossed lines on a flat background.
Back of the same swatch, original on the bottom and my version on top. The bottom has alternating raised bumps, the top is flatter with subtle diamond shapes.
First one is basically done! I changed up the seam too, this pattern is starting to resemble Theseus’s ship. The camera still can’t get the color right, either 😆 #crochet #fiberarts

Same glove, palm up
will you be replacing the yarn strand by strand until an entirely new glove exists?
just the pattern line by line, I’m hoping the gloves themselves last a bit before I need to do that 😆
Done! Now they go in the closet to wait for winter.

I got used to projects that take months, what next? 😆 Maybe something to use up all the yarn ends I have left from all the blankets...
