Next month I have an opportunity to go and see the camp where he went when he was signed up.. He didn't so much volunteer as reply to an invitation which was sent to mechanic apprentices at Rover. He always said he could have been exempt.. building engines - essential war production

I would have to look hard to find a photo of my father in uniform.. I think I have one somewhere.. but we were not close and I didn't get anything when my parents died.. Didn't even know he had died for over a year.. My family.. hahaha.. if you can call it that..
Nice picture.. Impressive that all are aircrew. May 1940. Oddly that's the month my father turned 16 and went and signed up as a mechanic.. funny these coincidences.
