I vaguely knew it, but now that I've been trying to supervise my kid's school time confined at home, I got the visceral confirmation: recess is made for teachers to get a breather, not particularly for kids.
LOL! Depends on the country/school system and age of kids. In ours, teachers are responsible for their pupil's safety during recess (up to ~14yo). Therefore, no breathers for #teachers.
In France they are too in kindergarten through primary school (ages 3 to 10) but it is a different job from trying to keep 20-30 kids focused on a specific task for an extended period of time.
@Hypolite Petovan @Rafu At my primary school I think the teacher density was half or a third during recess, so it did provide a break. Also yeah, just keeping kids from fighting should be less intense (hopefully) than holding their attention.
