I generally don't disagree with the articles points but it forgets to mention that Matrix is harder. Signal is a drop in replacement for Whatsapp and Whatsapp is basically the same for SMS which makes both incredibly easy to use even for the least technical people. Additionally Signal has a lot more users then Matrix and the phone number makes them easy to find which makes Signal the more useful option to most people.
At least it's much better than matrix in managing metadata 😏
As much as I like #matrix, I think that this article is misleading. Where does it get that its security is of higher quality? Also it claims that #signal is not open source because it is not federated, which are two different concepts. The fact that the server was not open source has an impact on the metadata, but not on the encryption. And is Matrix actually better with metadata?

I use and like Signal and Matrix. I just don't like aggressive "marketing" like this.
