It's pretty common for places in the US to be closer to the neighbor state's capital than from its own, but Michigan is so weirdly shaped that there are places where the closest state capital is *two* states over.

I suppose Saint Paul is closer to Ironwood than either Madison or Lansing.
@Brad Koehn β˜‘οΈ That's right! Although you don't even need to be hugging the Michigan/Wisconsin border to be closer to Saint Paul, MN than either Madison, WI or Lansing, MI. 🀯

@Brad Koehn β˜‘οΈ The first few days of the new administration have been mentally harrowing, I'm guessing I'm going to progressively desensitize to the rapid dismantling of any remote public good over the next 4 years, but right now it feels like a gut punch.
