In the last #LEGO bin I sorted, there were a few Harry Potter sets that I've restored and put for sale. I've been feeling icky making any kind of money out of them so I've started donating the proceeds to transgender charities. It isn't that much (US$90 total if all the sets sell) but it is something. After the first sale I've also started indicating this intent in the lot description on my online store fronts, hopefully it will deter bigots.

I love that approach. My castle is not getting put back together, but I'm going to repurpose the pieces into MOCs.
@julia ferraioli :cc_by: I don't judge anyone for owning a set from back when, but making any kind of Harry Potter purchase these days is pretty iffy in my book. Please let me know if you'd like hints to find MOC to build based on the parts you have.
oh yeah, this was from a while ago. I'm actually going to try my hand at designing! Thanks though 💜
The question is: is it better to deter the bigots or to take their money and donate it for a better cause?
@Benedikt Bauer I'm not sure this question is interesting, I made up my policy on the fly as I had already received an order for a Harry Potter set. It made me feel queasy because I didn't know anything about the buyer. Donating the money was a way to resolve this discomfort, and publishing this ad hoc policy for the additional lots was meant to make me feel better about the kind of person who would place an order for them.
