I was captured by this urban exploration video in Armenia, not just by the vistas and the risk taking, but because I've been in this exact kind of derelict post-Soviet industrial landscape. Only in video games like the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series (2007-2009) taking place in the Chernobyl interdiction zone, of course, but I didn't expect to feel this kind of familiarity looking at an actual place.

•@wakest @l̸̹̍̀a̸̜͋̐͜k̴̼͗̽͆̈́ḛ̵͗̈́ͅ @Kaknäsin Thorne Oh I believe you, as I can't pretend to know anything about actual post-Soviet countries just based on a video game experience. It's just an overall visual familiarity with overgrown industrial complexes, large pipes going for miles, rusted catwalks and old tower cranes. And guards and aggressive dogs too but in the video game they are feral, not domesticated.
Even the ferry wheel featured in this video is eerily similar to the famous one located in Prypiat, a testament to Soviet standardization.
