I realize that I've "liked" probably a half-dozen of these posts without saying more, but I really do appreciate them. I see you've wished me a good morning, and it makes me a bit happier, and I want to show my appreciation, simply.

Thanks for brightening my feed with your greetings!

Interestingly, I personally can't stand these conversational non-specific posts. Not only do I have nothing meaningful to reply, but they generate quite a bit of engagement which takes actual space in my #Friendica feed.

I've got nothing against the people doing it, it just is a personal social media pet peeve of mine.

Different users, different use cases, I suppose!
I've reluctantly stopped following high-profile accounts because of this kind of posts that generates tens of replies completely useless for my own social media use.
Does this imply that you see (all???) replies to posts that people you follow make? Like… if I post "howdy folks" and Spencer replies "how're you." and we then have a conversation about our days… that's filling up your feed?
Absolutely, and if one of my follows like a reply on their posts, I will receive it as well. It is a configurable behavior in #Friendica that is immensely helpful to discover people your follows care about, but it has this particular side-effect I have a bone to pick with.
