Not having much fun with #LEGO at the moment. I picked up a bin on Facebook Marketplace that turned to be two physical bins. At first I was happy with the bargain, but I quickly realized it would be a drag.
The bin featured hundreds of assemblies from official sets, which initially gave me a high confidence I would be able to find almost complete sets. But as I identified those assemblies, they kept belonging to new sets instead of ones I already found.
On top of these assemblies, the bins contained more loose parts than I’ve ever sorted into sets at once, and yet there are still way too few to complete most of the sets I’ve identified using the assemblies and also meticulously applied sticker parts.
I’ve also found sticker part duplicates that don’t have a whole another copy of the set worth of parts in the same bin, which leads me to believe there’s a third physical LEGO bin that was maybe sold separately from the lot I bought?
So I currently have about a hundred incomplete set plastic zip-top bags propped on folding tables and the floor in my living room, more than both the two previous bins I sorted combined together, while still having a couple dozen complete set bags from the previous bin that I set aside when I bought the new massive lot.
So it looks like I won’t complete most of these sets, which means I’ll have to re-sort the parts I already put in these bags in my collection, and into the rest of the bags, which feels like sorting a mini extra bin without getting the joy of identifying sets.
Long story short, my hobby currently feels like a slog despite my partner helping me way more than she probably should, and I mourn enjoying my time playing LEGO.
