On the Internet, I'm being periodically flabbergasted that there exists a majority of people who simply do not care about minorities. I'm not talking about people actively antagonizing them who I'm painfully aware of, I'm talking about people who are just indifferent.
@Hypolite Petovan When you don't really know any or have any friends of them its really easy to other them in your mind. In the US the most segregated institutions are church which really shapes who and what you care about.
I'm not sure its always indifference, but also lack of knowledge and empathy.
But still if even when you try to engage conversation about it and they still don't care, that's just saddening... 🙁
@#TBL Tatted Biker Lady I’m mostly done trying to engage with strangers who don’t have the same basic values as mine. It wastes everybody’s time while not meaningfully changing anything.
I like having friends with different points of view, I might not agree with them but I just like to find out what their motives are. Try to understand what reasons they have for some opinions. Helps me keep an open mind too. And learn new things too.
@#TBL Tatted Biker Lady I agree, but you said "friends" and I said "strangers", there's a world of difference!
Exactly! I wanted to add that too! as I realised that later when I reread it, but accidentally already sent my reply...
