Last week, I learned from a USPS delivery worker that #Amazon has a deal with USPS where they have their own delivery workers for the last mile. These workers do not have access to secure USPS mailboxes which means Amazon packages are just left in the lobby of my building.

Another good reason to ditch Amazon specifically.

@Hypolite Petovan but if they leave it like that, would it be your fault if it gets stolen? Here in Germany they just leave the packages on the floor in front of the app. door, but as long as I do not order them to do this they actually are bitten if any steals the package... and I would never permit them to leave it like that.
Amazon will usually reship any lost package, but I'm not sure about the partner stores selling stuff on the Amazon platform. Even then, it isn't great to have to wait for another delivery.
@Hypolite Petovan yes, but it seems overall it is lucrative to do it like this.
I assume it is since Amazon delivery workers must be paid less than USPS delivery workers.
@Hypolite Petovan likely, also their delivery workers are probably freelance people.
I meant it is lucrative for parcel services to just live the shipment on your doorstep or some place like that, because they pay their workers per delivery try or by hour... So lost packages are not the issue, but probably the money they have to pay to try to deliver it multiple times.
@Hypolite Petovan here they try to get you to permit them to leave the parcel somewhere, but if you do that they don't have responsibility for it anymore. But if you don't permit that they leave it anyway.
They're so busy here in Canada that they're hiring out the WORST companies. They don't know the city, they don't know the areas they are delivering to - my last two deliveries - I live on a busy commercial street where there are a lot of transient and homeless-type people along with the druggies and the ones who need mental health help. My wife has studio space in the rear and we live up front. The package would have fit through the mail slot. They didn't ring the doorbell as my son was home all day. They left it on the front step, took a picture and left.

So I gave a 400 character review lambasting the driver saying the only reason he got one star was because I couldn't give zero.

Second delivery. Would have fit through the mail slot again. Rang the doorbell twice, back to back. Took the requisite pictures and left the package on the step. As he was getting back in his car, my son got to the door. His room is one room from the front door. He took a picture of him opening the door and pointed the small package out to him.

Sigh. Lowest bidder. Lazy and ignorant delivery drivers.
@Simon Vince I don't blame delivery people, they do an awful job for awfully low wages, so the service quality is bound to be awful as a result.

Just don't buy from Amazon, it's that simple.
