Awesome writeup. Thanks for sharing!

I really like the B-model as well btw. Worth spending some time on.

@hypolite

@Pepijn Thanks, I might just build the B model, the number of parts is reasonable compared to the size of the model. On the other hand I never want to have to part out the 3700-part Lamborghini set for any reason. 😵
yeah. The high part count actually makes me hesitant taking large sets apart. Bit of a luxury dilemma.

That is such a gorgeous model!

Reminds me that I have the classic 8860 car chassi (1980) laying in a box somewhere in my parents attic. I even think it has the original box.

I loved that car... I think I even made a custom engine for it out of an old cassette tape motor.

Need to find it the next time I visit them.

@Johan The 8860 set definitely is in that didactic vein I talked about. For me the 8880 set is a sweet spot between an educational model and aesthetics, despite the oddly high stance for a high-performance car.
@Hypolite Petovan
I had the 8865.
Now it is in my brother's home, an I should really convince him that it was a christmast present for me, not for him, because I have the right spot to put it on show, now...
