"Murena is what Android would be like if it was a mobile operating system for users rather than a cluttered ad platform which happened to run apps."

If I understand right "#Murena" is a shop, selling #Fairphone's and refurbished brand phones with the /e/ OS (based on #LineageOS which is based on #Android).
@grin Murena is the brand for smarphones sold with /e/OS and cloud services at murena.io.
@grin
it is important to explain to people don't know it, I believe.
For example you cannot look up their specs, since the hardware is #fairphone or #samsung, or the os is /E/. 🙂

(Also I am not sure, by looking at it, that it is a "brand", since it creates neither hardware nor OS, just sell rebranded phones under their own name.)
@grin The Murena One is not a rebranded, it's just branded. However, who creates phones today? Qualcomm and Mediatek (and Apple) for the whole market. So that totally biased in all cases.
@grin
Well I hear you, but when I go to https://murena.com/ I see:
- Murena FAIRPHONE4
- Murena Fairphone 3+ Refurbished
- Murena Galaxy S9+ Refusbished

And yes, I see one phone called "Murena One", it might be original. It if it, they should work putting it on GsmArena for example for comparison.

Thanks for helping me to find it!
also while I have no particular reason to do it I'd like to mention that #android, as an OS does not contain any ads, isn't "cluttered with ads", basically I haven't seen an ad for months now.

It is the same as "windows is cluttered with ads" or "computers are cluttered with ads": yes, the applications are, but the OS isn't.

The ads are mainly in the apps, so do not use apps that show ads, and nothing will be cluttered. Also data sharing can be _mostly_ disabled without rooting.
yo disagree maybe because you mix up "cluttered with ads" with "data collection"? 😁
@grin About data collection.

@grin
as for data collection: I have observed even LineageOS calling out towards various places. Despite that I do not think it's particularly dangerous but I can accept that some people consider any data collection harmful. Incidentally some of these people loudly complain about the lack of free smart services which would require that data collection. Some people think it's possible to have sex and stay virgin the same time. 🙃
This is my _opinion_, and not a generally accepted fact. 😉
@grin Everyone has his own opinion for sure. But our point is that the fact that Google knows so much about everyone on the planet is extremely problematic.
@grin
Yes, data collection is problematic but your original comment was about "android is cluttered with ads", and I felt that this isn't precise.

Android is Linux + AOSP components. I believe even the data collection isn't part of Android but part of the bundled system apps. It would worth some time to actually list the apps do the tracking, it'd be rather simple to do on a rooted phone. Just needed time, which I don't possess. 🤷
