#podmin

Many of these newly created accounts are spammers who fill many comments with ad spam once and then are never used again. Unfortunately, as a user you can't block such spammers in other people's comments. I recommend making account registration more time consuming.

Thanks for your work! I hope these pesty spammers don't find another loophole.

Merci pour votre travail ! J'espère que ces spammeurs pestes ne trouveront pas une autre faille. (Translated by Deepl - my wife speaks French, unfortunately I don't)

Super ! Merci pour ce magnifique travail. On se sent bien sur Diaspora !
I think antix-linux has the same problem. I could not register to their forum because of the same reason.
Very sad!!
Bonne soiree a tous

Account management via https://diaspora-fr.org/user/edit is broken for at least a week.

It seems that some internal API throws a generic HTTP response code "the server failed to fulfil an apparently valid request". See the partial screenshot below. Am I the only one who experiences this?

I tried to contact the pod admin via an private diaspora message on last Thursday, but didn't get a response so far.

Sorry to bother you here, but I'm at a loss what to do.

@Wolfgang Strobl : i just see that i have the same issue. @Fla will surely fix that soon.
Me too, and clicking the invite, logs me out. No problem at all, just wait 😉
@Wolfgang Strobl when trying to edit settings via the settings menu, there's the eeror 500. When going to my profile, then clicking edit profile, i can edit my settings. Just taking another road and it works 😀

@Willy 81
https://diaspora-fr.org/profile/edit is different from https://diaspora-fr.org/user/edit
Clicking on your name on the top right (https://diaspora-fr.org/people/, that is) goes to https://diaspora-fr.org/profile/edit. That's just your profile, name, tags, photo, visibility, bio ...

I'm talking about https://diaspora-fr.org/user/edit which displays a broken error 500 page, independent of whether you click on the account entry on the menu on the left, clicking on your name on the top right and then select "Settings" in the drop down list, or just by typing https://diaspora-fr.org/user/edit into the adress bar.

A question about the page where it works: Does that page offer changing your email address, your password and to request your profile data? Just to be sure we are talking about the same page.

@Wolfgang Strobl
Oops, you're right, everything is working, except the account settings (...fr.org/user/edit) where the error 500 still appears 🙁 sorry, that was the link i didn't use).

I think it's because it's not possible to edit : user

Account is closed. (Do you have the same)

@Salinger 3
No, I've not seen anything like "Account is closed". It was and still is a "500 Server Errror" with a broken email adress.
<body class='error-500' id='error_500'>
<div class='transparent big-number'>
500
</div>
<h3>
Internal server error.
Our bad! Sorry about that. :(
</h3>
<br>
Drop us an email to <a href="mailto:postmaster@diaspora-.org">postmaster@diaspora-.org</a>.
<br>

Everything else works as designed, for example login / logout, writing and posting articles, contact management. Only account management (email adress, password changes, profile export for articles and photos) is broken. Not good. 😕
Looks like it is the easiest way to block new accounts 😀

Perhaps. Without any indication of how long this will last, it also renders old and sensibly used accounts useless.

Looks like it is the easiest way for the podmin to block new accounts 😀 Just remove or change file rights from the account settings , then nobody can create a new account.

@Wolfgang Strobl

J’espère qu’en fermant temporairement les inscriptions les robots se rendront compte qu’ils ne fonctionnent plus et seront stoppés, et je rouvrirai alors les inscriptions.
@Willy 81
I already understood your speculation and had a similar suspicion beforehand. Well, it was a free service - who am I to complain.
That's it: diasp servers are normally set up, maintained and paid for by one person who offers this to the public. Very kind. So logically (s)he has not much time do deal with spammers. Helas
hey, sorry I missed how broken this was for everyone, I do reproduce it myself so I am going to investigate and fix that.
@Fla Take your time. It's enough for me to know that it's on the to-do list. Thanks again for hosting this diaspora node!
@Fla
Problem is fixed.
@Fla
Thank you. Merci beaucoup. Danke schön. Hartelijk bedankt. 😀
@Fla
Bon courage. Les webbots peuvent décidément être une plaie.
