So I'm not totally abandoning Twitch, but I'm thinking about Fediverse alternatives to it. So far the options seem to be #peertube or #owncast .

I've got the server hardware in a colo that would probably let me do Owncast without much issue.

I can try spinning up both of those and seeing which one feels the best to me, but I'd like to hear other people's experiences livestreaming on either platform.

Which one acts the most like Twitch, and which integrates best with the rest of the Fediverse?
That'd be Owncast.

PeerTube has live streaming but no live chat (afaik).

Also: Why not both?

If you can host an Owncast you can as well host a proxy for your stream (and pick up the chatter with a bot again from Twitch and Owncast).

(I roll my own here too - just a collection of quick hacks tho)
Oh right. Peertube and Owncast don't have the weird exclusivity requirement that Twitch does.

Hmmmm!
who cares. Don't go affiliate :P

I would never build a business on Twitch directly anyway.

Not in control. Cancelled any moment.

Can still work out. I mean ask @Corben78 :)
But... but...

I need my channel points so people can throw objects at my face with point redeems.

And the custom emotes so I can show off @Sabine 's art!

;~;
I must admit, throwing objects at you was fun. I’d do it with text commands though!
