#gaming : List Building P!rn

Simply put, where I like to play games but only have so much time, having to list build is, frankly, bullshit.

@Gerard Thomas For competitive games based on arbitrary values, there will always be a need for rebalancing, because you can’t get it perfect the first time and players will naturally gravitate to the best combos because they like to win, leading to a stale competitive environment where most people play the same stuff because that’s what works best with the current rules. It is the curse of popularity for competitive games.

@hypolite Maybe, maybe not. I think there needs to be more time spent actually designing the 'design mechanics' for a lot of games, so an internal ruleset that defines how values are derived preventing, as you rightly put it, 'arbitrary values'. Just making stuff up on the fly is what causes so many rebalancing issues.
@I Am Gerard Thomas You're right, and this is what chess is about, for example. The rules don't really allow for rebalancing because nothing is on a spectrum. But not all games can be chess. Especially for war simulation games, you will have to determine how much damage weapons do, and how much damage units can withstand.
