I keep needing to remind myself that Mastodon was built by marginalised communities who experienced terrible harassment, abuse, doxxing, etc. on social media sites. Features, and how things operate on Mastodon generally, may seem strange to newbies, - as it was for me in the beginning. But once you understand how and why Mastodon originated, then it is much easier to accept how things are around here. Respect the kaupapa.
