Lots of new people on my local instance and elsewhere so it's a good time for me to do a new #introduction
Call me Zack. I have been knocking around these nets we call inter- since 1995, give or take a year. These days I teach systems programming at CMU[1] and in my copious free time I do research into online censorship[2]. I have also done a ton of hacking on various free software projects, most recently Autoconf[3] and libxcrypt[4].
Offline, I used to do pottery, but then I ran out of space in my house for decorative cup-shaped objects. I've also been known to dabble in candle-making, which was more fun back when I had a local friend who would take them and carve art into them. Also, commercial candle molds are terrible. I kind-of want to learn enough mechanical engineering to design a better mold.
I talk mostly about computery things, because it's what I know best, but I'm interested in just about anything. Tell me about your personal obsessions! No matter what they are!
