Finally watched 'Barbie'.
I understand its success with people (read cis-women) who are not necessarily active or educated when it comes to feminist issues. It's a good conversation starter but nothing more.

I'm not the only one pointing out the problems: 'Barbieland' version of feminism excluding men, men enjoying patriarchy as if toxic masculinity didn't exist (blink & you won't get the 1 line when Allan complains about it), to defeat patriarchy you have to manipulate men bc they're incapable of empathy for women's struggle...
It's a very binary movie & pretty 'corporate' in its vision of feminism. It's a Mattel production, they clearly avoided anything related to actual sexuality, periods, gender...

As for Gosling's Best Actor nomination it's a fucking joke.
Not his fault, Kens' characters are awfully written: 'Be good looking & mentally limited because that's what men are ha ha ha'.
Even Will Ferrel's character has more emotional range and depth, not to mention Robbie's.
