I just put the #update to 2023.04-1 on the server and since then my pictures are gone !?! Hm... According to the release description for the updating I should also copy a file config/addon.config.php into the new directory. But I don't have it in the old directory. And now?

The old config-files config/local.config.php and .htaccess have to be copied manualy when using the archive-files for installation and updates.
It looks like you have done this, because you are able to log in to your instance.

Pictures can be stored in the database or in the filesystem. When you are using the filesystem, you also have to copy your pictures-directory into the new directory structure of your update.
Go to Admin Settings > Storage > Filesystem to locate where to find your media-data in the old directory-tree. The copy has to be at the same location in the new sturcture.
An alternative is to put the image storage directory outside of the main Friendica directory. It'll still work, provided you set the path correctly. That's what I've been doing since day one.
You only need to copy the addon.config.php file if you have one to copy. It's optional, and most add-ons store their config in the database anyway.
